Lenses On The Sky
How do we tell stories over time?
As the Creative Director at the Oregon Museum of Science (OMSI) and Industry, I led efforts to engage design and art collaborators from the Portland community to create an installation in the Space Science wing of the museum. This project was part of a NSF and NASA funded grant. We brought together indigenous and cultural partners from the region to blend traditional storytelling with emerging technologies to highlight the diverse sky-watching experience that humans around the world have done for millennia, and how we all have used the stars and night skies to tell stories and pass on traditions.
The end result is a cool blend of sculptural installation, interactive technologies and digital storytelling. Our principal design partners included a team from Plus & Greater Than, Skylab Architecture, Thomas Wester, Kirsten Southwell, along with support from the internal OMSI creative team.
