The Center For Innovation Donor Wall

The Donor Recognition Wall

For the donor recognition wall at OMSI, I wanted to design an approach that honored science, could grow organically over time and that used honest and relevant materials from the PNW region. I found the answer in ceramics. From digital to domestic, we live in a ceramic world, just as people have for thousands of years. For a campaign that was focused on innovation it seemed like a worthy material to explore. I worked with a local ceramics company, Mudshark Studios, to mold and cast the shapes and developed a proprietary laser process to engrave each piece with the donor’s names. Custom glazes allow for multiple levels of donor recognition. In addition to the ceramic donor levels, regional hardwoods offer even more levels of recognition.
